Dance like an Egyptian
Alternate title for this image: "Joshua Smith stars in his function of a lifetime — ‘The Rudolph Valentino Story!’"
I attended the August showcase of the Phoenix-area Fred Astaire studios, which was held as soon as once more at the Tempe Center for the Arts. Whilst I have but to evaluation all of the photographs from this shoot — I arrived home with about 300 — I am particular that it will show to be far a lot more productive than my previous showcase back in January. This time I picked a seat on the far appropriate end of the fourth row, and a lot more importantly, I employed my trusty 85mm f/one.8D lens, which I really should have utilized very last time. It might be remembered by some of my viewers that the January occasion ended up being my most disappointing dance shoot actually, despite the fact that I hasten to add that it was undoubtedly no fault of the performers. I was solely to blame for that small disaster, considering that I had positioned myself on the really front row, wherever I made the decision I needed a wide-angle lens and used my new Nikkor 35mm f/one.8D — a good piece of glass for other purposes, but not, alas, for dance photography, as I discovered the challenging way. But we dwell and find out. (Not only was the shoot a disappointment on its own merits, but I also missing my favorite round polarizer at that celebration, and I have nevertheless to exchange it.)
This was between the quite last pictures I took today, and whilst I never but know if it will prove to be my best, I fell in love with it right away and put in a lengthy time hunting at it in my camera’s LCD screen. I hope the studio crowd likes it, as well. (Joshua and his university student have been dancing to "Walk Like an Egyptian.")
